【摘要】:Thepurposeofthisguideistoassisttheuserindevelopingprocedurestodeterminetheserviceabilityofropebaseduponvisualandtactileinspectionoftheropeandtheropehistoryasdocumentedintheropelog.Thisguideisintendedforusebyexperiencedpersonneldeemedqualifiedbytheusertoassesstheviabilityofrope,accordingtothespecificneedsofthatuser.1.1Thisguidecoversprocedurestoassistinthemanagementandcareofkernmantlenylon,polyester,ornylon/polyester,orbothkernmantleropesbyrescuepersonnel.1.2Thisguideprovidesinformationintendedtoassistqualified,experiencedpersonnelinestablishingproceduresfordeterminingwhetheraropeshouldbeplacedintoorreturnedtoservice.Suchproceduresmaybeusedtoassistindeterminingserviceabilityofusedrescueropes.Otherfactorswhichmaynotbeincludedinthisguidemayalsoneedtobeconsideredwhenevaluatingropes.Note1Interpretationoftheterms"qualified"and"experienced"whenreferringtoindividualsinspectingropesmaybedebatable.Becauseropeevaluationisasubjectivepractice,itisinthebestinterestoftheusertoclearlydefinetheneedsoftheuser,andthentotrainpersonnelaccordingtothoseneeds.Needsandprioritiesmayvarygreatlybetweenusers.1.2.1Aropewhichhasbeenusedinanymannershouldnotbereturnedtoservicewithoutfirstundergoingathoroughinspectiontoincluderopelogreview,visualinspection,andtactileinspection.1.2.2Itistheresponsibilityoftheusertounderstandthatevaluationofausedropeisasubjectiveprocess.Duetothestrengthandlongevityofkernmantleropespresentlyusedinrescueoperations,itisperfectlyreasonable,andevenadvisable,fortheseropestobereusedonfutureoperationsunlesstheropeisphysicallycompromisedinsomeway.Iftheuserchoosestoreuseropes,thentheusershouldalsoestablishspecificguidelines,includingandpossiblyinadditiontothosesetforthinthisguide,andprovidetrainingforpersonnelwhowillberesponsibleforexaminationofropes.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotimplyapprovalofanyspecifictypeofrescuerope,nordoesitpurporttoensuretheabilityofanyropetofunctionasdesired.TheinformationincludedhereisnottobeconsideredtheonlycriteriaforevaluatingtheserviceabilityofrescueropeThisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
