【摘要】:Chemicalanalysesofliquids,solids,andgasesfromthevadosezonecanprovideinformationonthepresence,possiblesource,migrationroute,andphysical-chemicalbehaviorofcontaminants.Remedialormitigatingmeasurescanbeformulatedbasedonthisinformation.Thisguidedescribesdevicesandproceduresthatcanbeusedtoobtainvadosezonesoilsamples.SoilsamplingisusefulforthereasonspresentedinSection1.However,itshouldberecognizedthatthegeneralmethodisdestructive,andthatresamplingatanexactlocationisnotpossible.Therefore,ifalongtermmonitoringprogramisbeingdesigned,othermethodsforobtainingsamplesshouldbeconsidered.1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresthatmaybeusedforobtainingsoilsamplesfromthevadosezone(unsaturatedzone).Samplescanbecollectedforavarietyofreasonsincludingthefollowing:1.1.1Stratigraphicdescription,1.1.2Hydraulicconductivitytesting,1.1.3Moisturecontentmeasurement,1.1.4Moisturereleasecurveconstruction,1.1.5Geotechnicaltesting,1.1.6Soilgasanalyses,1.1.7Microorganismextraction,or1.1.8Poreliquidandsoilschemicalanalyses.1.2Thisguidefocusesonmethodsthatprovidesoilsamplesforchemicalanalysesofthesoilorcontainedliquidsorcontaminants.However,commentsonhowmethodsmaybemodifiedforotherobjectivesareincluded.1.3Thisguidedoesnotdescribesamplingmethodsforlithifieddepositsandrocks(forexample,sandstone,shale,tuff,granite).1.4Ingeneral,itisprudenttoperformallfieldworkwithatleasttwopeoplepresent.Thisincreasessafetyandfacilitatesefficientdatacollection.1.5inch-pound-units;Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
