【摘要】:Thesetestsdeterminetheoptimumwatercontentandmaximumdensity(unitweight)tobeusedformoldingsoil-cementspecimensinaccordancewithMethodsD559andD560.Note18212;SincethesetestsareusedinconjunctionwithMethodsD559andD560andthecriteriareferencedtherein,thetestdiffersinseveralaspectsfromTestMethodsD698.TherearethreemaindifferencesbetweenthisstandardandTestMethodD698.Firstly,thisstandardallowsamaximumparticlesizeofx00BE;-in.(19.0mm)fora4-in.(101.6-mm)moldwhileD698allowsamaximumparticlesizeof3/8-in.(9.5-mm)forthesamesizemold.Secondly,thisstandardpermitsthematerialleftoverafterthewatercontentspecimenhasbeenobtainedtobemixedwiththerestofthesampleandreusedforthenextdetermination.TestMethodD698doesnotpermitthematerialtobereused.Thirdly,thisstandardallowsthematerialthatisretainedonthex00BE;-in.(19.0-mm)andpassingthe3-in.(75-mm)tobediscarded(scalpingtechnique)andreplacedwithanequalmassofmaterialthatpassesthex00BE;-in.(19.0-mm)sieveandisretainedontheNo.4(4.75-mm)sieve.TestMethodD698doesnotpermitthescalpandreplacementtechnique.Note28212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationoftherelationshipbetweenthewatercontentandthedensityofsoil-cementmixtureswhencompactedbeforecementhydrationasprescribed.1.2A1/30-ft179;(944-cm179;)moldanda5.5-lb(2.49-kg)rammerdroppedfromaheightof12.0in.(30.5cm)areusedandtwomethods,dependingonsoilgradation,arecovered,asfollows:SectionsTestMethodA,usingsoilmaterialpassingaNo.4(4.75-mm)sieve.Thismethodshallbeusedwhen100%ofthesoilsamplepassestheNo.4(4.75-mm)sieve7TestMethodB,usingsoilmaterialpassinga3/4-in.(19.0-mm)sieve.ThismethodshallbeusedwhenpartofthesoilsampleisretainedontheNo.4(4.75-mm)sieve.Thistestmethodmaybeusedonlyonmaterialswith30%orlessretainedonthe3/4-in.(19.0-mm)sieve8
