【摘要】:Datacorrelatingtheresultsoftestsperformedusingthistestmethodwithperformanceofcement-aggregatecombinationsinconcreteinservice,resultsofpetrographicexaminationofaggregates(GuideC295),andresultsoftestsforpotentialreactivityofaggregatesbychemicalmethodshavebeenpublishedinTestMethodC289andshouldbeconsultedinconnectionwiththeuseofresultsoftestsperformedusingthistestmethodasthebasisforconclusionsandrecommendationsconcerningtheuseofcement-aggregatecombinationsinconcrete.Theresultsoftestsperformedusingthismethodfurnishinformationonthelikelihoodthatacement-aggregatecombinationispotentiallycapableofharmfulalkali-silicareactivitywithconsequentdeleteriousexpansionofconcrete.Criteriatodeterminepotentialdeleteriousalkali-silicareactivityofcement-aggregatecombinationsfromtheresultsofthistestmethodhavebeengivenintheAppendixofSpecificationC33.Insignificantexpansionmayresultwhenpotentiallydeleteriouslyreactivesiliceousrocksarepresentincomparativelyhighproportionevenwhenahigh-alkalicementisused.Thismayoccurbecausethealkali-silicareactionproductsarecharacterizedbyanalkalitosilicaratiothatissolowastominimizeuptakeofwaterandswelling,orbecauseofalkalileachingfromthebars(seesectiononcontainers).Dolomiticaggregatesthataredeleteriouslyaffectedbythealkali-carbonatereactionwhenemployedascourseaggregateinconcretemaynotproducenotableexpansioninthistestmethod.Also,significantexpansionmayoccurrarelyinthetestforreasonsotherthanalkali-aggregatereaction,particularlythepresenceofsulfatesintheaggregatethatproduceasulfateattackuponthecementpaste,ferroussulfides(pyrite,marcasite,orpyrrhotite)thatoxidizeandhydratewiththereleaseofsulfate,andmaterialssuchasfreelime(CaO)orfreemagnesia(MgO)inthecementoraggregatethatprogressivelyhydrateandcarbonate.WhenexpansionsinexcessofthosegivenintheAppendixofSpecificationC33areshowninresultsoftestsperformedusingthistestmethod,itisstronglyrecommendedthatsupplementaryinformationbedevelopedtoconfirmthattheexpansionisactuallyduetoalkalireactivity.Sourcesofsuchsupplementaryinformationinclude:(1)petrographicexaminationoftheaggregatetodetermineifknownreactiveconstituentsarepresent;(2)examinationofthespecimensafterteststoidentifytheproductsofalkalireactivity;and(3)testsoftheaggregateforpotentialreactivitybychemicalmethods(TestMethodC289).Whenithasbeenconcludedfromtheresultsoftestsperformedusingthistestmethodandsupplementaryinformationasoutlinedthatagivencement-aggregatecombinationshouldbeconsideredpotentiallydeleteriouslyreactive,additionalstudiesmaybeappropriatetodevelopinformationonthepotentialreactivityofothercombinationscontainingthesamecementwithotheraggregates,thesameaggregatewithothercements,orthesamecement-aggregatecombinationwithamineraladmixture.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesusceptibilityofcement-aggregatecombinationstoexpansivereactionsinvolvinghydroxylionsassociatedwiththealkalies(sodiumandpotassium)bymeasurementoftheincrease(ordecre......
