【摘要】:TheCO2reactivityratesareusedtoquantifythetendencyofacarbonartifacttoreactwithcarbondioxide.Carbonconsumedbytheseunwantedsidereactionsisunavailablefortheprimaryreactionsofreducingaluminatotheprimarymetal.CO2dustingratesareusedtoquantifythetendencyofthecokeaggregateorbindercokeofacarbonartifacttoselectivelyreactwiththesegases.Preferentialattackofthebindercokeorcokeaggregateofacarbonartifactbythesegasescausessomecarbontofalloffordust,makingthecarbonunavailablefortheprimaryreactionofreducingaluminaand,moreimportantly,reducingtheefficiencyofthealuminumreductioncell.ComparisonofCO2reactivityanddustingratesisusefulinselectingrawmaterialsforthemanufactureofcommercialanodesforspecificsmeltingtechnologiesinthealuminumreductionindustry.CO2reactivityratesareusedforevaluatingeffectivenessandbeneficiationprocessesorforresearchpurposes.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthethermogravimetric(TGA)determinationofCO2reactivityanddustingofshapedcarbonanodesandcathodeblocksusedinthealuminumreductionindustry.Theapparatusselectioncoversasignificantvarietyoftypeswithvariousthermalconditions,samplesizecapability,materialsofconstruction,andproceduresfordeterminingthemasslossandsubsequentrateofreaction.Thistestmethodstandardizesthevariablesofsampledimensions,reactiontemperature,gasvelocityovertheexposedsurfaces,andreactiontimesuchthatresultsobtainedondifferentapparatusesarecorrelatable.1.2solely-SI-units;1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
